Kanell Hall Veterans Museum with Hall of Heroes

IMG_0772-HDR.jpg

The Kanell Hall Veterans Museum and Hall of Heroes is located on the first floor of the Poplar Bluff Museum. This room is named after our beloved Billie Gene Kanell who gave his life on a Korean mountaintop on September 7, 1951. His Congressional Medal of Honor is on display on the back wall. Please make that your first stop.

Poplar Bluff has served the Nation since the Spanish American War. Bella Wood, Hurtgen Forest, Chosin Reservoir, and the Mecong Delta are just some of the fields of valor stained with our blood. Our fathers and grandfathers still rest in Flanders Field, Normandy, and Arlington. Come see the stories of our Sailors, Marines, Paratroopers, Tankers, Helicoptors, Fighter Pilots, Submariners, and Astronauts.  Finally, visit our Hall of Heroes.

Every single man and woman, both combat veteran or reservist, who has worn a uniform has earned a spot on this wall. If you have a family member who has served and is not on our Hall of Heroes Wall, please leave a photos so we can honor them.
